Tournament Rules and Regulations
100% Catch & Release, 80% Payback , 1st – 5th Place

Registration – Registration Packets are available from Cascade Musky Association’s tournament director.  Registration is $100 per team. One team per boat. 2 anglers per team. Limited to the first 25 teams. Entry fee and registration packet must be received prior to the close of registration/contestants meeting. Packets may be mailed. There will be no refund of entry fees unless the event is cancelled by the tournament staff. The tournament staff reserves the right to reject any entry.

1. Starting positions will be determined by random drawing. Boats will be released from the Mayfield Marina by the tournament director at safe intervals starting at 6:30 am(safe light).

2. A MANDATORY pre-tournament contestants meeting will be held at 5 am Saturday, 12 September at Mayfield Resort.

3. All contestants must have the following equipment on board:

   a. Quality net or cradle fully capable of safely landing and holding a musky... until measured, and released.
   b. Jaw spreaders, pliers and hook cutters.
   d. Signal flag, high vis orange(water ski flag),available at Lake Mayfield Resort
   e. Contest banner(around outboard motor), available at many local tackle stores or from the BASS Federation.

4. Tournament hours will be 6:30 am – 3:30 pm on Sat, Sep 12 and 6:30 am to 12:00 noon on Sun, Sep 13.  The tournament staff reserves the right to alter event times or cancel the event due to severe weather or unforeseen circumstances.

5. Tournament Scoring:

      a.  Minimum size is 30”.
      b.  One point for each inch up to 30”.
      c.  One point for each  ¼” over 30”.
      d.  Any measurement falling between ¼’ will be rounded down.
      e.  Winners will be determined by total points.
      f.  A girth measurement(at largest point)will be used in the case of a tie.
            

                    Measuring Board will be provided by the tournament staff.

6. When a musky is caught, keep the fish in the net, in the water. There will be no further fishing by anyone in the boat  until the measuring and the release of that fish is complete. Call the judge boat via cell phone at the number provided. Wave your orange flag to assist the judge boat in finding you in a timely manner. Measurements will be taken with the nose butted and the tail pinched. The fish will be handled and placed on the tournament measuring board by the contestants. The judge will make the determination for length and girth with confirmation by the contestants. After confirmation, a quick photo may be taken. Contestants must then place fish in water at boat side and maintain control until the fish can swim away on it’s own.

7. Should a fish die, the contestant that caught the fish is finished fishing for the day. He may assist in netting his/her partner’s fish. No points will be awarded for any dead fish plus a 50 point penalty will be assessed.  Cascade Musky Association maintains a strict policy against the killing and/or retention of any musky. Any dead musky must be turned over to the judge boat/tournament director.

8. All contestants must check in at Mayfield Marina with the Tournament Director each day whether they caught fish or not. Failure to do so on Saturday will result in disqualification. Failure to do so on Sunday may prevent your entry in future tournaments. A team will be considered to have returned after confirmed check-in with the tournament staff. A team checking in late will be disqualified.

9. No alcohol is permitted in the boat during tournament hours.

10. All WA State boating and fishing rules apply. It is the boaters responsibility to know these rules.

11. No live or dead bait is permitted.

12. Only registered contestants my fish or help land a fish.

13. At no time are any two contestant boats allowed within 100’ of each other unless by mutual consent.

14. Tournament boundaries will be strictly adhered to. Consult your map. All buoyed areas are off limits.  If in doubt – stay out.

15. Life jackets will be worn any time the outboard motor is in gear unless specifically trolling.

16. Anyone caught cheating will be immediately disqualified and forfeit their entry fees. The judgment call on cheating is at the discretion of the tournament staff. All decisions of the tournament staff are final.It is the intention of Cascade Musky Association to conduct a fair, honest  and professional tournament. Any and all questions must be addressed prior to the start of the event. Any protest must be in writing within 30 minutes of check-in on either day.

17. The awards ceremony will be ASAP after the tournament. Cash prizes will  be awarded to the 1st Place $740.00, 2nd Place $540.00, 3rd Place $340.00, 4th Place $240.00 and 5th Place $140.00 Teams. Payback is 80% based on 25 teams.

Lake Mayfield is “OFF LIMITS” starting June 25th – June 27th to all participants. No fishing or boating of any kind is allowed during this period.
